1. Eat Right – What does proper nutrition have to do with your golf game? By eating a meal that is high in protein and complex carbohydrates, you will find yourself having a solid energy level throughout the course of your game. Be sure to eat right before you leave for tee time to get the best effects.
2. Stretch – Golf is a physical activity, and your body will perform better if you stretch prior to playing. Spend a good 10 minutes stretching with toe touches, squats and arm circles. Next, use your seven iron and take a few half swings. Finish off by working some wedges. You’ll find your swing is much smoother if you stretch.
3. Water – Just like eating a good meal before you golf, drinking plenty of water will help you play better. Try to drink a gallon of water prior to hitting the course and to drink a bit more at each hole. Doing so will help ensure your energy remains high. It can also help you focus throughout the game.
4. Clothing – Something as seemingly inconsequential as clothing can have a big impact on your game. Clothing should be loose fitting and appropriate for your course. Shoes should fit properly. Find attire that is reasonably priced, but still suits your needs.
These four tips may seem a bit odd to you. After all, most golf sites will focus on things like their grip or their stance. Still, for those who really love the game, there are things you can do before you play that will absolutely improve your game. Take care of your body, give it the proper fuel, stretch it out, and the rest will follow. Remember it isn’t all about your clubs or your grip – it’s also about you. What do you do to prepare for a round?
