Do you want a perfect excuse and a genuine one for pursuing your extreme sports dream? Then you will be glad to know that certain extreme sports promote weight loss. You might be wondering, what’s the big deal about it. Any sporting activity promotes weight loss. So is the same with extreme sports.

Yes, you may be right. Although most extreme sporting activity does promote some kind of physical exertion, there are some that are genuinely beneficial for losing weight. For a change if you would want to come out of suffocating gyms, and boring treadmills, and look for a new way of fitness, here are some extreme sporting activity that can help you.

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is one heck of an extreme sporting activity that makes you strong, lean, and tough. You will get strong muscles, a flexible body, and a really lean body. Rock climbers need tremendous all-round strength, physical and mental stamina, high-capacity muscles, and less weight.

If you can combine your weight training workouts with rock climbing, you will look and feel very strong. Rock climbing is probably one activity that prolongs tension on your muscles, thereby increasing its capacity for exertion, and also making it grow. In the process, your muscles will burn your fat.

Surfing

Although surfing looks like sky-walking on water, it is not. It is a highly strenuous activity, which demands balance, strength, agility, and weightlessness. Surfing is a fun way to lose weight even without knowing it. You might not gain a lot of muscular strength, but you sure will look great with a lean, mean body.

Equipment Needed for Mountain Climbing

Mountain climbing is an extreme sport that takes a lot of patience and practice. It is good idea to spend some time on an indoor rock wall and get the proper training before you try to go out and climb a mountain in real life, otherwise you won’t succeed. You’ll also need a lot of gear in order to stay safe and be able to complete your task, in addition to physical strength and determination. The following is a list of equipment you will have to obtain:

1. A Rope: You want to use a cord that has been approved by the International Union of Associations of Climbing. It should clearly have a UIAA label that certifies that the product will provide the level of safety you need.

2. A Good Pair of Shoes: There are special shoes that you should purchase for mountain climbing. They are often called “espadrilles.” These shoes are unique because the soles are flexible which makes it easier to grip and adhere to rock. They are also light weight and ergonomic. You should buy custom made shoes to fit your feet perfectly for best performance.

3. A Safety Harness: This is important because it is what will keep you safe in the event that you fall. The straps should be at least 5 cm in width, as stated by the UIAA, and it should have a seat that matches perfectly. You’ll want to buy a harness with adjustable leg straps.

4. A Helmet: You can die when you experience significant head trauma, so it is important to wear a helmet when you are rock climbing because you could hit your head if you fall, even if it is just a short distance. Helmets are made to absorb shock which reduces injury to the head. You should use a helmet that is approved by the UIAA.

Mountain Climbing Tips

Mountain climbing is an extreme sport that requires great physical strength. This means you should see a doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to participate. This will decrease the possibility of having health problems while you train and engage in the sport. You also need to learn your strengths and weaknesses so that you can set goals and develop at an appropriate rate.

If you want to be good at mountain climbing, you will have to do regular exercise to keep your muscles toned and healthy. All of this work doesn’t have to be done in a gym either. You can spend your time playing sports and doing routine things like walking up and down the stairs instead of taking an elevator. It will be impossible to climb successfully if you do not work on your upper body strength especially. You’ll also need to learn how to breathe properly to avoid getting tired quickly. Be sure to engage all of the muscles in your body so you have an overall level of tone and fitness. Don’t forget the push-ups, crunches, and flexes of the knees.

In addition to exercise, you will need to practice the skill of climbing. This can be done at indoor rock walls. Although different than climbing a real mountain, this provides a good training opportunity because it improves your grip and problem solving skills. You will also be given advice from the person that is handling your harness. One great advantage to training on an indoor rock climbing wall is that you will be supervised and be able to meet people who share your same interests.

You’ll also need to get the right gear to participate in mountain climbing. You’ll need a helmet, harness and seat, rope, special shoes, and spikes for climbing particularly steep areas. All of this equipment can be purchased online or at specialty stores. Make sure that everything is UIAA approved.
